Kofi just opened up about Prince Nana stepping in for an elimination spot at AEW All In, but the backstory goes way deeper than that recent collaboration. Back when he first debuted as an on-screen character, he was Kofi Kingston from Kingston, Jamaica, and the reaction online was brutal. People on MySpace were really mad at him. Jamaicans were mad at him. And then Ghanaians were also mad at him because he wasn't representing. If your name is Kofi, you're from Ghana. The question kept coming: 'How come you're representing Jamaica? You don't want our culture?' One of the big reasons that he went away from a Ghanaian character was because Prince Nana was already doing it in ROH. He thought to himself, I don't want to just come out and be like another guy. I got to do something different that hasn't been done. Fast forward through his career, they crossed paths a little bit throughout the duration of my career, so to have it come around and to have him be involved in an elimination spot and actually have it work… it was really cool. He's been really awesome. Just a great personality. Very knowledgable about the business. Kofi thinks he's underrated in a lot of different ways. Really cool to be alongside him.
