The argument being made is that she voted for these events and welcomed the arrival of the looters. Now she is begging them to stop as she faces the consequences. Deep down, she understands they will not stop. Her entire belief system is crumbling: she thought they were French like her fighting for a common cause. She thought warnings about danger were just expressions of hatred and that she was personally safe. That specific delusion has collapsed.
