A California judge signed off on Paramount's settlement with the states yesterday, which was the last thing standing in the way of the $110 billion Warner Bros. Discovery takeover. Closing could come as early as October 5. The result would fold CNN, CBS News, HBO Max, Paramount+, Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures into a single company. What got the states comfortable was a commitment to put out at least 30 films annually plus an editorial board keeping watch over both CNN and CBS News. Hey, 30 movies a year. We'll take it.
